What is the difference between a â€oeClinical” Psychologist and a Psychologist?
A Psychologist has a minimum of an undergraduate degree and two years of supervised clinical experience. Most Clinical Psychologists have 4 years of postgraduate University based-training that is done only after completing their undergraduate degree in Psychology. Often a large component of the coarse is intensive clinical work with supervision. The government recognises this difference and offers higher Medicare rebates to patients attending those with â€oeClinical” accreditation.
Do I need a referral?
A referral is not required for an appointment at North Star Family Psychology. However, you may be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate of $124.50 per session (max 10 sessions per year) if you have a referral from your GP and a Mental Health Care Plan. (more)
