At the ICB Gait and Posture Clinic we specialise in the assessment and treatment of lower limb conditions. We treat chronic and acute foot pain, shin pain, knee pain, and hip & lower back.
We also have a special interest in the growth and development in children and can treat growing pains, clumsiness, tripping over, pigeon toe, out toe, heel pain, knee pain and gait anomalies (unusual walking/running styles)
The human foot is a complex structure made up of 26 bones and 2 sesamoids, held together by soft tissue - muscles, ligaments and tendons. The human foot was designed to walk on soft surfaces like earth and sand and uneven surfaces rather than today's hard, flat man-made surfaces.
So, it's little surprise that with the average person taking close to 10,000 steps per day that damage often occurs to the soft tissue supportive structures of the feet. Poor posture in the feet can result in pain and discomfort in the shins, knee, hips and lower back. (more)
