About

Many couples having difficulty in their relationship experience patterns of conflict and negative feelings that repeat over and over. These patterns if left untreated become distressing and erode the goodwill each person has toward the other. Over time criticism, defensiveness, contempt and stonewalling begin to take hold and a negative cycle of communication becomes the predominant way couples try and solve their issues. Often the only way out of this cycle is to seek professional help. It's crucial that the negative pattern is changed so that better communication and connection can restore the goodwill in the relationship.

About Blake Anderson Counselling and Therapy
>
I am a Brisbane based Psychotherapist and Counsellor and have been practising for over ten years working with individuals and couples in an effort to help them feel better about themselves and each other.

I specialise in providing counselling and psychotherapy to people wanting to improve their current situation, feel better and achieve real change.

In our sessions together we will not just talk about change - you will learn how to change. My philosophy, and what separates my services from others, is that a person?s learning has to be fully embodied to last - that a person needs a real experience of change for that change to become permanent. It is this experience that I am committed to offering my clients.

I had been to see a few counsellors before and had come away not understanding their ideologies. As a victim of domestic violence, having low self esteem and other childhood issues, I did not like the person I had become. Then I was introduced to Blake and as usual was not very forthcoming with details of my problems. I remember saying to him that my issue was I didn't like the person I had become. I persevered and Blake dealt with my attitude and anger and it was his ability to do this which kept me going back. Whether it was the fact he listened, didn't talk until I had finished and most importantly, wasn't judgmental about anything I said, I cannot answer. Over time by working together, with me shedding many tears, and not quite understanding the procedures that Blake took me through week after week, there came a time where I didn't feel alone any more. If I was having a bad day or week, he was there to listen and at the end talk me through the issues at hand. His ability to do this is an amazing gift - whereas I am now able to talk myself through some of my issues that present themselves and yet should I falter, he is always been there at the end of the phone. As I have stated before, I had seen several other psychologists, yet Blake has always listened to my needs and addressed them in a professional and caring manner, which no-one else has been able to address. Going to see someone for help is probably one of the hardest tasks I have had to confront in my lifetime and yet now I feel that I am a better person and able to stop! think and act (not react) to issues that can arise in my life.
