Tracey Donaldson is an educator and psychologist with over 20 years of experience in helping children and their families cope with the demands of school, home and life in the 21st century. Tracey would like to introduce you and your child to an emerging field called Mindful Psychology. Mindful Psychology integrates aspects of:
•Psychology, Western and Eastern
•Neuroscience, specifically affective neuroscience
•Health and Wellness, including nutrition, sleep and exercise
Tracey brings her decades of experience in the field of education and psychology, as a skilled and experienced educator of primary and secondary children, former lecturer for the Professional Development Institute of Monash University and as a registered Consultant Psychologist since 1994. During those years Tracey has gained many insights into the causes of family harmony, educational resilience and success, to create a uniquely practical and holistic approach to learning.
For Parents: Tracey has helped navigate parents through the trials and tribulations of raising children from the very first weeks of life, through the joys and sorrows of childhood, the adolescent journey and emerging adulthood. She has gained immeasurable experience and understanding of parenting demands whilst enjoying the blessings and concerns of being a mother of a teenage daughter herself. By working alongside Tracey you can enhance your childTMs educational progress and more importantly give them the skills to become confident and effective adults. Children need the love, support and guidance which parents offer. Helping parents to do this to the best of oneTMs ability with the support of people like Tracey makes that job a little easier. She works alongside the wisdom that parents have and coaches them from the sidelines with an awareness of an individual plan targeting each child. She walks the hard yards beside you, rather than leading the way. Decisions about the right choice of school for your child, the correct learning environment based on the abilities and personal qualities of your child is just one way you can benefit. Helping your child become the best he/she can be in spite of the challenges that life presents.
For Children: Tracey has worked with pre-schoolers, primary, secondary and tertiary students. Parents of younger children work with Tracey to manage problematic behaviours including bed-wetting, fears and anxieties, socialisation, adjusting to change, coping with separation among other things. Tracey can administer and score psychological tests, including those that assess intelligence and ability. She diagnoses and assists with anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, behavioural difficulties, special educational needs and assessments. Tracey also conducts a range of group programs, which address the needs of each individual child. Groups may include oeBuilding Resilience”, oeConfident Kids, Successful Adults”, oeRelationship Building”, oeLife after Loss” (issues of loss and grief, i.e. parent separation, death of loved one, moving schools, changing friendships).
For Teachers: Tracey has offered programs to educators of many of the leading primary and secondary schools on the Mornington Peninsula, in courses ranging from transitioning from primary to secondary school, behaviour management of children (Tracey was awarded a QueenTMs Trust Honour for her work with youth in the south east suburbs in 1994), ADHD, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disabilities (Tracey is currently enjoying working in a Specialist Development School with children from prep to year 12 equivalent). She developed and presented the Masters oeAdolescent Counselling Program” which is offered at Monash University in the Education Faculty.
For the Life-Long Learner: Courses offered in Mindful Psychology are designed to present practical, real, achievable practices and information.
