If you were considering Flavours Catering for your large function or event, then I strongly advise you read my review (right to the end, it goes from bad to despicable). The problems started the day before the wedding when our tableware and linens were dropped off at the venue where we were setting up and decorating. Around half the wine glasses, 6 or 7 of the table linens and about 1/3 of the plates and cutlery were unclean. Some simply needed a polish but others were totally unacceptable and we had to put them aside, but then realised we only had just enough for the number of guests so we had to stay back and hand-wash or wipe all of them. The wine glasses had lipstick marks on the rims, the plates had visible traces of food on them and the linens were wine-stained and discoloured. Thankfully we were holding our rehearsal that evening and almost every single person who came for the rehearsal, including the band, stayed back to help us do this. We left our venue close to midnight absolutely exhausted. The morning of the wedding, just as the guests started to arrive, one of the waiters from Flavours pulled my husband aside looking distressed and told him he couldn't get the oven to work. What could my husband do but help him or we would have cold food for our wedding lunch? So being the helpful and caring guy he is, my groom spent 20 minutes of his wedding day morning in the kitchen with this waiter that we were paying trying to help him start the oven whilst guests were arriving and wondering where the groom was. The last straw was when they started running out of food after the 8 (yes, EIGHT) plates of the bridal party had been filled. My Mum and sister alerted the waiters when they noticed the platters starting to empty so that they could start refilling. They were told bluntly that this was all there was, that we had chosen the "cheaper option" by going with the buffet and that this was all we paid for. Let's clear some things up for the record. Most people purchasing a buffet option from a catering company will cater for only 75-80% of their guest numbers. We catered for every single guest including children that were invited to our wedding, all 180 of them we paid for even though we had gone way over our catering budget. We were happy to do so if it meant that we would have enough food. Five of our guests ended up not being able to attend last minute, so we actually had LESS people on the day than we had paid for. Four of the buffet options were completely empty by the time the 8 members of the bridal party and immediate families were served. 100 of our guests had some lettuce leaves, rice, and a dinner roll. Around 40 of them got absolutely nothing. My sister noted that the amount of salad they had brought looked like the same amount that she prepares to feed our family of six at dinner. We had to order $800 of takeaway from the local Thai place which took an hour to arrive. Our guests sat hungry through the speeches and we apologised profusely whilst fighting back tears of shame and embarrassment and just feeling so bad for our guests, especially the children (although they were happy to eat just bread and cake!) We watched while the guests who had gotten some food shared their food amongst the ones who got nothing. Everyone was being so kind and acting like they weren't hungry and trying so hard to comfort us but I still could not eat a thing and had to excuse myself to have a little cry in the bridal boudoir. Our drinks were warm because the caterers didn't provide the ice buckets that they were supposed to. In the end my sister who is a solicitor demanded they honour their guarantee (advertised on their website) that they would not run out of food and give us a full refund. They refunded the cost of the food but not of the hire of tableware and the services of the waitstaff, both of which were equally unsatisfactory anyway as I've detailed above. Not to mention the $800 my mother was set back for the Thai food that we had to order. I've not pushed for the refund of these things because I am so upset by what happened that I just want to forget about it all. I cannot think about our wedding day without remembering how upset we were. It occurred to me that I owed it to the public to write this review so I could spare other people from the utter embarrassment, disappointment and upset that I had to go through because I chose Flavours as my wedding caterers in good faith. Still I might have been able to forgive them for ruining our wedding meal and withheld this poor review if I had received a sincere apology from them. It's been almost three months since our wedding and it's now obvious that I am not going to receive one.
