"I stayed at Felix Guest House in August. My daughter and I went horse riding through the forest and we had a wonderful time. We think this is a great place for a break away. The room was beautiful, clean and quiet. We appreciated having the kitchen to cook in and saved us from eating out at night. This place provides very good value for the money with reasonable rates and close to The Dandenongs. " (more)

"Great family friendly accommodation, I will definitely go back. This is an excellent spot in Byron Bay, close to everything but still private and very relaxing. Teenagers didn't annoy us once the entire holiday! There was always something to do and somewhere to go; the beach and town are really close. The next door house looked great too but we only stayed in the Havana one. Excellent kitchens, I didn't want to go home. It's worth every cent. " (more)

"Wow! What a property. This is a must for all those travelling to FNQ. The Daintree Rainfroest is amazing and this place is right in the heart of it! They have absolutely gorgeous natural swimming holes with turtles. I saw cassowaries and musky rat kangaroos. The restaurant food is amazing! What an experience! I highly, highly recommend it. "The hosts were wonderful and really lovely people. They will give you good recommendations on where to go. They are offering tea and cakes on arrival and is a really nice touch. Guest Houses

Guest houses occupy a unique accommodation position nestled between bed and breakfasts and hotels. They are usually owner-operated, similar to B&Bs, yet usually maintain a service staff similar to hotels. Most, however, do not offer full service and some functions, such as carrying your bags to your rooms, may be self-service.

A guest house also differs from a hostel because it does not necessarily require travelers to share amenities and facilities. It is unlike a serviced apartment, because it does not usually offer live-in services like laundry, kitchen, chauffeur, etc.

Guest houses may be part of the house, or detached from the main house. Detached units may have separate entrances and enhanced privacy, while guest houses within the main house may have more shared options, such as a shared dining hall.

A typical guest house may offer some or all of the following facilities:

Fully furnished apartment
Single, twin, and double bed rooms
Self-contained rooms
Servicing and maintenance of rooms
Rooms with a view (mountain, ocean, etc)
Options for children and pets
Options for disabled people

Before choosing a guest house to stay in check that:

Its location meets your travel needs
The owners accept your payment method (online booking, credit card, etc)
The rooms and en suite facilities are what you require (en suite bathroom, etc)
The rooms are regularly serviced and maintained (clean sheets, regular room service)
The ancillary services offered suit your travel needs (internet, communication, travel needs, etc)
