An acupuncturist uses multiple stainless steel needles which are between 0.18mm and 0.51mm in diameter. These needles are used to manipulate the flow of qi through one's body. Qi flows through 14 energy pathways called meridians. Depending on what aliment the patient suffers from, needles will be inserted at various points ranging from the neck, shoulders, arms and legs.
