  • Nuclear energy

Energy Conservation Facts

  • About one-sixth of the energy in a typical house is used by refrigerators and freezers, which is more than other appliances
  • About 50% of the energy used in homes is used for heating and cooling
  • Laptop computers draw 15 to 25 Watts of electricity during regular use, compared to 150 Watts for a conventional desktop computer and monitor
  • Coal is the major source of energy produced in the US, which heavily contributes to pollution
  • About 25% of the electricity used in a home is used for lighting
