Car clubs are groups of people who share a common interest in motor vehicles. Car clubs have been in existence for decades as non-profit organizations organized by enthusiasts around a type of vehicle or brand. Some car clubs since the 1960s were sponsored by car dealers to promote their business.
There are two types of car clubs: offline or traditional car clubs, and online car clubs.
Offline or traditional car clubs host gatherings called meets for members and non-members. Cars of a particular period are displayed to the public with other games and events for the enjoyment of those present. Traditional car clubs also sponsor benefits such as publications that contain photographs, services, vehicles for sale or rent, and car advice. Other events include racing, cruising, shows, and community service activities.
Online car clubs, on the other hand, are online communities with a large number of members who also share a common interest for vehicles based on model or brand. These online communities are free for all, thereby gaining a large number of followers and enthusiasts compared to a single traditional car club. Online car clubs provide forums, content databases of vehicles and the like, photo sharing, and other services pertaining to the vehicles they support.
Car clubs in Australia have increased over the years and have established an online presence to promote their interest for motor vehicles. Online communities have also increased in number showing that many Australians have a great appreciation and support for motor vehicles.
