About Hansens Tyre and Mechanical: Emerald

It started in December 1983, when two entrepreneurs, Wayne and Liz Hansen, opened for business in Blackwater. They started with one mechanic and a casual driveway attendant.

Wayne?s goal was to bring city service to country customers at a competitive price, which is still his motto today.

Initially they traded as Amoco Big Wheels, until BP bought Amoco and Big Wheels merged with Tyrepower, becoming BP-Tyrepower. The business then moved up the road in 1990 to its current site in Blackwater on the Capricorn Hwy. They changed to Bridgestone in 1993 and the trading name of Hansens Tyre and Mechanical was adopted.

While holidaying in the Emerald area, our vehicle required towing and a specialist part sourced. As an RACQ agent Hansens came to our assistance and their friendly, professional enthusiasm towards getting us back on the road again allowed us to continue with our holiday in good spirits. While waiting for the part to be sourced, Hansens regularly kept in touch with progress reports and we came through the whole experience with the minimum of worry.
