"I have just been reading your latest thought of the week. All I can say is that ten years ago a previous employer, upon discussing the terms of my wages, had this to say about commission. If I have to dangle a carrot in front of the donkey, I might as well shoot the donkey! Your job is to sell. If I have to entice you to do your job I don't want you. Over the last ten years this statement has stuck with me and I also follow this theory. So much so, that I pushed hard to receive a no commission package when starting at GCA. I have seen too many people that are new to sales, burn out or leave very promising careers early due to inconsistent wages. Most sales staff gets more enjoyment from the sale experience than from the commission. I have seen firsthand both sides of the commission coin and those on a higher salary and no commission, generally sell more and almost always retain a higher gross margin. I feel very, very fortunate that I've had the opportunity to deal with you. Your thoughts of the week are a great reminder for me to strive for the highest possible standards.
