"The people at The Arts Emporium were very welcoming and very professional. They made me feel at home and made a 'scary' process very easy. My kids now come to classes here too! The studios are really nice and they have a great atmosphere. I would recommend these classes to everyone. " (more)

"I have attended classes at Perth Studio Potters for over 2 years and I have been a member with the club for almost as long. PSP is a place where you can get all the support and teaching you need to become a great potter. It's all up to you how advanced you wish to go, what skills you wish to develop and what materials you wish to use, as long as you keep a strong emphasis on safety. The club is very safety concerned and there is guidance for everyone wanting to learn more about kilns or materials. Even though I have been working with ceramics for a while now and I have my own studio space, I still attend classes and come and work in the club when I am in Perth. I have been with other clubs, also outside Australia, and I have yet to find a club that offers the same warm and welcoming atmosphere, the same level of freedom and trust, the same variety of workshops and equally skilled teachers and brilliant fellow artist. I highly recommend beginners, intermediate and advanced potters to visit Perth Studio Potters, try out it's classes or join a workshop. " (more)
Art covers a diverse range of aesthetic creations, interests and skills and is an expression of human thoughts and emotions. Art may be in a form of sculpture, painting, or even music and literature. Many people are inclined to arts. They may be someone who appreciates the art, or someone who creates art himself.
There are many benefits associated to a specific art form. Dancing is considered a form of art that does not only allow a person to divert emotions into movements, but enhances one's physical appearance and condition as well - as it requires strength and rigorous physical coordination - also considered a form of exercise. Painting, sketching, or even doodling is said to be therapeutic for people who have difficulty expressing their inner thoughts and feelings through words and action.
People who are in the field of art or those wanting to involve themselves in art have various reasons. A number of painters and other art enthusiasts do so to continue the legacy of well-known artists in the family. Others consider art as a form of healing - a diversion from a busy or monotonous lifestyle, or something that will enable them to forget an unpleasant experience. On the other hand, most parents are keen on enrolling their children to art classes to enhance the child's appreciation of art and culture.
Culture is prevalent in different art forms. Many art forms and art techniques still in use today can be traced to the traditional art of the ancient civilizations. Each of these great civilizations has produced a unique and characteristic style and has been transmitted to other cultures. There are modern artists today who incorporate some traditional techniques to create a unique and modern interpretation.
It is said that inclination to art and its appreciation is natural to all human beings. A number of individuals are said to be born with the eye or hands of an artist. Although there are people who, despite their ability to create an art piece themselves, still prefer to take classes in order to enhance their skills and broaden their knowledge.
There are many art schools located around the country. Each school may have a different way of defining art and its quality, some specializing in a specific art form. Others may offer general classes that touch various forms of art. Each school may have its own standard and principle in accepting students. Some prefer to teach experienced artists while others accommodate beginners. There are small classes available that are willing to provide comprehensive training. This applies to art lessons such as painting, dancing, sculpture, printmaking, and even pottery among others. In painting alone, there is already a wide range of style such as abstract or contemporary, mixed media, and airbrush. Some hobbyists open their workshops to students willing to learn arts and craft. Some universities offering degree courses also provide summer short-courses or workshops to kids and individuals wanting to immerse themselves in art.
There is a list of acts and regulations regarding arts and culture in the whole of Australia. These acts and regulations are being administered by the Office of the Arts - headed by the Minister. On the other hand, there are government bodies that support different art events and activities in a specific state one of which is Arts Victoria. This body advises on and implements arts policies in accordance to the Office of the Arts. Other arts and culture institutions and organizations recognized by the Office of the Arts are as follow:
