"I found Dr John Lim 3 months ago via Google for my year 12 son as his maths tutor. I've engaged a few private maths tutors for him since year 9 but his maths was always below average. Every tutor told me that he has potential but none of them could make him understand and not to mention about passing the subject. He started with Dr Lim just 3 months and now he has so much interest and doing so well that even his school maths teacher told me he couldn't believe it. A big thank you to Dr John Lim. Without his amazing help, my son would definitely going to fail his maths. " (more)

"The people at The Arts Emporium were very welcoming and very professional. They made me feel at home and made a 'scary' process very easy. My kids now come to classes here too! The studios are really nice and they have a great atmosphere. I would recommend these classes to everyone. " (more)

A tutor is a person who is helps in the education of other people. A tutor is often a postgraduate student or a lecturer who is assigned to conduct a seminar for undergraduate students. A private tutor is a person who teachers a specific subject or skill to a single or group of students. They are often privately hired and paid by the student or the student?s family.
Tutoring may be done at home or any place conducive for learning. There are also tutorial centers where students go to learn instead of having a tutor come over.
In-home tutoring requires in-person instruction, often held at a physical location chosen by the student. Although less flexible and typically held during after school hours, in-home tutoring is personal and there is a possibility for the tutor to work with teachers to help the student understand the lecture better.
Online tutoring is another way for a student to receive help from a tutor. Sessions are done through an application that was programmed for such activities where the student and tutor can communicate. Online tutoring has been gaining popularity due to the convenience it brings to the students.
In online tutoring, instruction is held on the computer involving multimedia devices for easy learning. It is more flexible than in-house tutoring and can be recorded so the student may be able to go back to lessons previously discussed. There is very little potential for the tutor to work with the teachers to figure out the best approach for the student to learn. As such, materials that are provided may not always correspond to the subjects taught in school.
Homeschooling is the education of a child at home by parents or tutors instead of going to school. It is an alternative to private or public schools for a variety of reasons including better student to teacher ratio and better academic test results. Homeschooling in Australia is legal and many families have homeschooled their children for a long time.
