Dr Alvin Chong graduated MBBS 1993 and obtained a Master of Medicine degree by Research in 2001, both from the University of Melbourne. In 2003 he became a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, having trained at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, the Alfred Hospital and Monash Medical Centre as part of the Victorian Dermatology Training scheme. He also spent a year at Addenbrook's Hospital Cambridge in the UK as part of his post-graduate dermatology training.
Dr Chong's public clinical appointments are Specialist Dermatologist and Supervisor of Dermatological Training at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne and Head of Transplant Dermatology Clinic at Skin and Cancer Foundation Victoria. He also has an appointment at the University of Melbourne as Senior Lecturer in Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine. He is involved in undergraduate and post-graduate dermatology teaching and research.
Dr Chong is a member of the Skin Cancer Committee of the Victorian Cooperative Oncology Group of the Cancer Council and the International Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative.
He has written numerous peer-reviewed articles in medical journals, textbook chapters and was associate editor of the sub-specialty textbook "Transplant Dermatology: Skin Disease in Organ Transplant Recipients", published by Cambridge University Press. He was recently part of the Working Party to establish the Australian Cancer Network Guidelines for the Management of Non-melanoma Skin Cancers. (more)
