Dr Alex Polyakov is a Fertility Specialist, and a Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist at Epworth Freemasons Hospital, St. Vincentâ€TMs Private Hospital, Frances Perry House, Royal Womenâ€TMs Hospital and Melbourne IVF.
After graduating from the University of Adelaide in 2000, Alex completed his internship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital before moving to Melbourne to start his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
He trained at various hospitals, including Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital and Box Hill Hospital, and completed formal fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Reproductive Biology Unit of The Royal Womenâ€TMs Hospital, Melbourne IVF and Monash IVF. Dr Polyakov has earned his reputation as a highly regarded Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon. He is one of the very few specialists in Melbourne who performs majority of gynaecological and fertility-related procedures including myomectomies (removal of fibroids) and hysterectomies (removal of uterus) via minimally invasive laparoscopic (â€oekeyholeâ€ť) surgery.
In addition, Dr Polyakov is a leading specialist in Microsurgery, which includes Tubal Ligation Reversal and Vasectomy Reversal operations. He also specialises in Andrology, which caters to male causes of infertility such as abnormal sperm count. Another one of his most sought-after surgical skills includes performing a highly delicate procedure of testicular biopsy.
