It was really hard for me to go to counselling because I spend all of my time doing everything for everyone else. I would make sure I was busy all the time and literally flop into bed at night exhausted. But, I was actually really starting to get panicked and anxious especially when something happened that I was not expecting. I am thankful to the counsellor I saw at Norwest Counselling Services. She was very patient with me and is helping me deal with my anxiety. It is certainly a process but, slowly, I am feeling more settled within myself.

I would recommend this business. I was having major hassles in my relationship and could not make sense of what was happening. The counselling helped me to see things more clearly and avoided me in making a huge mistake that could have really hurt us both.

I have been anxious for as long as I can remember. It was starting to get in the way of my relationships at home and at work. When I started having panic attacks I finally realised it was time to get some help. At Norwest Counselling Services I was treated well. It's hard to explain but I am beginning to feel more calm inside. It may take a while but I think I am going to stay with it.

My school counsellor thought I should come to counselling. I thought it was a pretty stupid idea but I was always getting angry at school and my mom thought if I didn't go, I might end up getting suspended. My teachers seem to think I could do better than I was. All you do is talk and try to figure out stuff and things to do instead of exploding. Counselling is not as bad as I thought. Thanks!

I had been in an abusive marriage which left me feeling very crushed and empty and scared to go into another relationship. The counselling has made a big difference because now I am learning how to set boundaries with people and how to keep myself emotionally safe. I am thankful for the care of the people at Norwest Counselling Services. They really understand what happens in an abusive relationship and how much it can affect you. It felt so good to have someone understand you.

I have never been to counselling before and I was not looking forward to it. I actually could not stand the counsellor at first because she was trying to encourage me to take responsibility for stuff I had done in my relationship. I did not like it at all because I was pretty used to blaming everyone else for everything. I am not there yet, but I think I am starting to get it.

I'd suffered a stack of loss in my life, and abuse. I went to counselling because I was really fearful and anxious. I had lost my voice. The counsellor was really good at helping me become more assertive and to find my voice. Probably for the first time, I realise that I am actually a lot stronger than I thought I was. I learned to ask for things that I need, particularly from my family. It's really heaps better. I'm not alone, I know that now.

My anger had gotten me into heaps of trouble and through seeing the counselor at Norwest Counselling Services, I now understand better what is happening inside and have learned some really good strategies to know what to do when I begin feeling angry so that it does not build up to exploding point.

They offer great service. I came to counselling because things in my life were in a mess and only getting worse. My husband and I were estranged, my teenagers were off the rails and I was really distressed. The best thing for me so far, has been to realise that I am not responsible for making someone else happy but I am responsible for my own thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It might sound strange but I never knew what a boundary was. And because I did not know, I was crossing other people all the time.
