CAREERS COUNSELLOR - Shelley Thompson has over 10 years experience working in human resources, recruitment, and organisational psychology. She is a registered Psychologist and a professional member of Careers Development Association of Australia. Her qualifications include a Masters of Organisational Psychology, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Psychology, Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and Certification in several psychometric assessments.
CAREER COUNSELLING - is a service provided by a trained career counsellor to help individuals identify careers and educational courses that best suit them. Through discussion and completion of a range of career assessments, possible career options are identified that match with one's interests, skills, values, personality and aspirations.
Career Exploration - In a world filled with hundreds of career choices, the confusion people face over what career to pursue is understandable. How do you find out about the career choices available, and more importantly, how do you know what career is right for you? A career counsellor can help you discover your passion, your unique potential and a career that is the best fit for you.
Career Change - it's never too late to change direction and pursue a career you find enjoyable and satisfying. If you remain in a job or pursue a career path that is at odds with your interests, values, personality, skills and aspirations, then you are likely to struggle, feel stressed and dissatisfied, and probably underachieve at work. Career Counselling can set you in the right direction and pursue a career that utilises your abilities in activities that you enjoy and find interesting.
Many mid-life career changers comment, "I wish I sought this type of careers advice back when I was in high school".
CAREER COACHING - involves personalised one-on-one sessions with a career coach to help individuals on any career-related matter. This can include assistance and guidance in:
- preparing for a performance review;
- enhancing work relationships with colleagues, management and clients;
- identifying key strengths and areas for development;
- creating a development goal and action plan;
- gaining work/life balance;
- developing management and leadership skills; and
- increasing motivation to achieve career objectives.
No matter how well one's career is going, many careers can be improved without actually changing one's job. A regular career check-up prevents problems or career ailments that might otherwise occur. A career coach can check on how your career is going and determine what else you can do to make the most from your working life. (more)
