Dealing with all family law disputes including divorce, separation, child custody, property settlements and child support, mediation allows parties to resolve their issues in a cost effective and more amicable way.

Based in Toowoomba, specialist family lawyer and mediator, Richard Mahler, conducts mediation across all of South East Queensland.

Richard has seen first-hand the negative effect of litigation on parents and children as a practising solicitor specialising in Family Law. He is able to use this knowledge and insight to assist parties in reaching a resolution without the financial and emotional costs associated with litigation.

Richard is a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Federal Attorney-General's Department. This means that he is recognised nationally as a mediator, and can issue Section 60I certificates as required under the Family Law Act before parties institute court proceedings in respect of children's matters.

Richard holds a Master of Laws (including a Mediation Course), Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours, a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing), a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice with Distinction, has completed the Practice Management Course with Distinction, and begins a PhD in International Family Law in 2011.

Richard has extensive experience in mediation work, both as a practicing Solicitor, and as a mediator. He has conducted numerous mediations through the Family Relationships Centre on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, and is passionate about helping people overcome litigation through communication. (more)
