New children’s market for southern suburbs The Handmade Children’s Markets holds its very first market day on Saturday September 4 at the Melville Civic Centre Main Hall in Booragoon WA from 9am to 1pm. Entry is free and sausages are selling for $2.00. Parents looking for an alternative to mass-produced clothes and toys but no time to make them are turning to boutique markets. The HCM is the only children’s handmade market south of the river that showcases high quality products and services for children aged 0-10 years old. Mum and maker of bright baby quilts and toys, Tash Kritter decided to establish the market when she set up her own small business Handmade by Tash earlier this year and quickly discovered the need for a regular boutique and handmade children’s market in the southern suburbs. The markets also provide a space for people in the community to connect and support local projects for children. The markets will feature 40 stalls in a family friendly environment offering a great shopping experience for mums, dads and children. Stalls include handmade clothing, toys, gifts, quilts, children’s activities, hair accessories, party supplies, photography and children’s décor. Many stallholders are new business owners who bring unique products to the market that cannot be found in commercial shopping centres. The range of talent and creativity that will be unearthed at the HCM must not be missed. HCM will run monthly, giving mums with small businesses a regular opportunity to sell their goods and services and to get their business names known around Perth. Entertainment for the children is free and food can be bought from the sausage sizzle and cake stalls held by local schools and community groups. Come down and support our local small businesses and community groups as they fund raise to support children within the community. HCM markets dates for 2010: Saturday Sept 4, Oct 2, Nov 6 and Dec 4.
