The Most Expensive Piano in the World
John Lennon's piano was hailed as the most expensive piano in the whole world. In the year 2000, the said piano was auctioned off with a price worth US $2.1 million. It was George Michael, a British Pop-singer who took it home. This piano bears the product name Steinway & Sons Model Z It is just a typical walnut upright piano with minor cigarette burns along its casing attributed to the late music icon.
It was originally bought by Lennon on December 1970 and was delivered straightly to a studio at his own home in Berkshire, England. This piano was the one used by Lennon in recording the song "Imagine".
George Michael brought the piano back to Liverpool Museum after he had used it for the recording of one of his album. He said that the piano is not worthy to be stored or kept by a single people like him; instead the piano should be displayed in public to inspire budding musicians.
But if you want to have the most expensive piano available in the market, then you should have earned at least US $ 1.2 million to afford it. It is called the Kuhn-B sendorfer piano. It is crafted to perfection with 100,000 pieces of polished gems, hand-cut by the glass artist Jon Kuhn. Glassworks done by Jon Kuhn is known world-wide for its luminescent quality.
