The Armidale branch of the Australian Martial Arts institute teaches Shinto Muso Ryu Aikido, along with a number of weapon arts including Jojutsu and Kenjutsu.

Studying a martial art will help with concentration, balance, timing, awareness, calmness, fitness and flexibility.

Aikido is a martial art developed by Sensei Morehei Ueshiba from a number of other martial practices. It draws heavily from the art of kenjutsu, or swordplay.

Shinto Muso Ryu Jojutsu is a ~400 year old martial art using a 4ft hardwood staff that combines the cuts of a sword, the sweeps of a pole arm and the thrusts of a spear.

Specialties

Aikido - Unarmed martial art using joint locks and throws. Unusually, it places emphasis on caring for your attacker. This makes it a good choice for our modern world where killing an opponent is rightly discouraged.

Jojutsu - The art of using a short staff (~4ft)

Kenjutsu - Traditional Japanese fencing with the katana.
