My introduction to Yoga was when I was just 12 years old. After many years as a devoted student and inspired by how wonderful I felt physically and mentally after every Yoga class, my love of Yoga eventually led me to a Diploma with the International Yoga Teachersâ€TM Association (IYTA).
In 1993 I began teaching and established â€~South Yarra Yogaâ€TM where I ran weekly classes including ongoing general classes, Yoga for Beginners courses, Prenatal Yoga, Back Care courses, Yoga philosophy and seasonal workshops for over 10 years.
My Yoga teaching experience also includes:
- 1997 pre-season training with the Hawthorn Football Club (AFL)
- corporate classesr /> - retreats & workshops
- gyms/fitness centres (currently at GESAC)
- classes with children, elderly citizens and intellectually disadvantaged adults
- private sessions
- general weekly classes at various venues around Melbourne
â€oeYoga” means to unite. It brings together all the aspects of ourselves with the present moment, in alignment with the inherently intelligent, creative flow of Life. Through breathing practices, postures, relaxation and mindfulness we develop deeper self awareness, greater health and well- being and inner peace.
I teach the classical style of Hatha Yoga and the classes are suitable for people of all ages levels of experience.
I also have a Diploma in Shiatsu Therapy and often draw on the wisdom of Oriental Medicine to enhance the Yoga practice.
When you come to one of the classes, you are invited to take the time out to restore and nurture yourself. You can expect instruction and explanations of how and why we do certain postures, using alternative or modified poses if necessary, breath awareness to link mind/body/present moment and guided relaxation/meditation to bring you to a space of deep calm.
