On the weekend I visited this service station for the first time (the one on Willoughby Road). I stopped there mainly because I was driving by and needed to put a few litres in to tide me over, certainly not because it was the cheapest (it was far from it). However, they splash everywhere they give Velocity points so I thought at least that was a bit of an incentive as I do collect them and anything to the next flight is helpful. All was ok until I got up to pay and was told they can't scan my electronic card, they need the original membership card with the swipe strip....really??? In this day and age??? We even pay with our phones or watches - and no, I am not a millennial. To think that most people still walk around with a wallet full of cards is antiquated. I might return if they actually update your systems and are able to bring your service up to the 21st century - until then not a chance. Update 8/5/19: just got a response from BP having emailed them. In that response just just copied and pasted - then make bold and red (aggressive much?) - their T&Cs which state "3. The customers velocity card needs to be physically swiped at the EFTPOS terminal. No site will accept an electronic version of a card i.e. any sort of app where one can store a rewards card or scan an electronic version of the card." Now you tell me - do you enter a petrol station that advertises points or benefits then sit there for 1/2 hour to find then read their T&Cs?? Needless to say I responded and advised if they can't keep their products, services and service relevant to this decade, I will not be going back. Was a 2* - after their very shoddy response down further it goes
