July to November is Whale Watching Season in Hervey Bay

THE WHALES ARE ON THEIR WAY for their 2015 visit and play in Hervey Bay. From late July to early November, Hervey Bay has become famous as the playground of the majestic humpback whales on their return to the Antarctic when the whales frolic in the warm waters of the bay. The majestic Humpback Whale is likely to have been visiting the Fraser Coast Region from around 20,000 years ago. This fascinating creature has harmoniously swam in the world's oceans for over 23 million years and now many man-made impacts such as whaling, climate change and ship strikes threaten their existence. National Whale Day is held annually in the whale watch capital, Hervey Bay, raising awareness of these amazing creatures.
