About
Happiness Reflexology
With ever increasing levels of stress in our lives it is important we take more responsibility for our own health care needs.
Reflexology is a truly holistic therapy treating the cause of a condition as well as the general symptoms.
An extremely relaxing experience reflexology can helps us to cope not only on a physical level but mentally and emotionally too thereby encouraging us to heal and maintain health in all areas of our lives.
I became a Reflexologist in 2005 and a Reiki Master in 2006. When necessary I also use Bach Flower Remedies to compliment the healing process on an emotional level. I believe it is important and empowering to manage our own healing and therefore support clients to adopt a healthy life style to ensure optimum well being.
As part of my commitment to life-long growth and learning I am continuing my studies to become a Nutritionist.
Reflexology works by:
* Reducing the effect of stress
* Balancing the nervous system
* Improving energy levels
* Increasing the body's immune response
* Increasing vitality
* Improving sleep quality
* Boosting lymphatic function
* Improving circulation
* Detoxifying the body
* Enhancing the body's natural healing process
* Affecting all the body systems, encouraging the systems to work effectively as one
Reflexology as a holistic treatment
Reflexology treats the body holistically - or as a whole. The aim is to address the cause of the condition as well as alleviate the symptoms - ensuring long term health and wellness.
Reflexology works very well at reducing stress levels. As stress is a contributing factor to 90% of illnesses this can help to relieve and alleviate many conditions. The word disease can be broken down to dis - ease. Working on the theory that the body works best when all aspects are running smoothly and efficiently the body will be at less risk of disease if every system is healthy.
What will happen in the session?
In the first session your medical history, lifestyle and diet will be discussed. Your way of life and the food you put into your body will undoubtedly have an effect on your body's happiness!
You will receive a relaxing tea tree oil foot soak (not for pregnant women). The reflexology treatment takes place in a reclining chair, which is especially beneficial for those clients who are heavily pregnant and find lying on their back uncomfortable.
It will feel like a relaxing foot massage, but I will actually be addressing every system, organ and limb of the body. The reflexology treatment will last for 45 minutes. Subtle changes can be detected in specific points on the feet and at the end of the treatment any points found to be out of balance will be reviewed. We can also discuss a course of action for you health goals.
A course of treatments may be recommended depending on your body's needs.
Who should have reflexology?
Reflexology is for all ages and may bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Many doctors, consultants and other health care professionals recognise reflexology as a well established, respected and effective therapy. Reflexology compliments other therapies and modern medicine.
Where does reflexology originate?
The art of reflexology dates back to ancient Egypt, India and China. In 1913 Dr William Fitzgerald introduced this therapy to the West as "zone therapy". In the 1930's Eunice Ingham further developed this zone theory into what is known as reflexology.
