I install the latest Softmod, USB Loader and the Homebrew channel for all model Wii consoles without voiding the warranty and no soldering required. This will region free your Wii, play backup games from DVD media or from a external hard drive and also allow you to load emulators. No need for a modchip to be soldered on the motherboard and your console is left unopened.

Once modded together with USB Loader you can load all your .iso backup games from a external USB drive. No need for DVD-R disks and loading through the disk channel when you can treat your Wii to play like a media centre console. I recommend Western Digital 2.5" external USB drives with 320GB minimum.
