Driving School Getaway

About

Driving School Getaway (DSG) is unique in Australia. DSG is the World's second provider of learn to drive holidays.

DSG offers big-city learner drivers an irreplaceable opportunity to take an inexpensive 2 - 5 day learn to drive holiday in Lismore, Australia's best learn to drive location and capital of NSW's beautiful Northern Rivers.

DSG helps you make affordable travel, accommodation and recreation arrangements as well as helping provide you with some of Australia's best driving lessons!

DSG is a new initiative of Charles, Proprietor of Professional Driving Consultancy (PDC) since 1993.

Who is Charles?

Charles has helped broaden and deepen the driving skills of more than 3000 clients in and around Lismore, Ballina, Casino and Grafton since 1987.

Charles' qualifications include a B A (Melb.) in Psychosociology (the best single University qualification for a driving instructor).

He also holds two up to date TAFE Certificate IV qualifications: Transport and Logistics (Car Driving Instruction) and Training and Education (the only TAFE teaching qualification).

Charles has been approved since 2011 by the NSW RMS as one of its few Older Driver Assessors.

Charles has also recently qualified as a Platinum provider of FREE (Commonwealth Government funded) Keys2Drive sessions.

Additionally, Charles has held a Working with Children Certificate since its inception.

Charles' own driving experience included professional full-time night-time taxi driving in Melbourne (1976-78), Canberra (1985) and Lismore (1997-2012).

As a motorcyclist Charles also survived two Melbourne winters without falling off!

What is PDC?

PDC helps broaden and deepen - and assess - clients' driving skills through its copyrighted 4 page 'Dynamic Defensive Driving ('3D')' WorkSheet.

PDC's active use of the 3D WorkSheet generates both a variety of learning styles and heaps of 'right-brain' activity in his learner driver clients. The 3D WorkSheet also provides a constant reference in learners' private practice. So excellent low risk driving habits are developed comfortably, quickly and easily.

PDC has been a long-standing Member of the NSW Driver Trainers Association (the only NSW body accredited by the Australian Driver Trainers Association.)

What can Charles and PDC do for you?

10 hours of PDC's affordable driving lessons will maximise the increase in your driving skills' breadth and depth.

After 'setting a perspective' by introducing the 3D WorkSheet, PDC firstly focuses (on quiet rural roads) on that which driving lessons in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane cannot: the need to balance forces ("Dynamic Driving") - the single best way of avoiding single vehicle collisions.

Next, PDC deepens steering and coordination skills by slow-speed manoeuvring - 3 point turns and reverse parallel parking.

After learner drivers are introduced to the keywords of a sentence describing "dynamic defensive ('low risk') driving", they practice more complex skills of lane changing, of using first safe gaps at roundabouts, turning left and right into and from main roads and negotiating safe gaps at marked intersections.

Learners then have their 3D skills accurately and clearly assessed in writing with the 3D WorkSheet. And are offered a FREE Keys2Drive session (if a supervising driver is available) to help them transit to their 'P's.

Charles liaises with Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane driving schools to complement PDC's 3D lessons and, if necessary, to help arrange driving tests.

At least 80% of Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane learner drivers return to the big smoke with at least an 80% chance of scoring at least 80% in a NSW driving test - Australia's most rigorous.

'DrivingSchoolGetaway' can help you to book your accommodation and arrange your travel (as well as describing in detail exactly what it offers).

And by all means give the calm, patient and friendly Charles a ring.

DSG is a remarkable initiative. Seize the day!
