About

St Peter's is a sessional preschool catering for children from three to five years of age.

The pre-school has a spacious, leafy, inviting and challenging playground designed to stimulate the imagination and provide a safe environment for children to explore...

General Information

St Peter's Preschool Limited is a community based not-for-profit pre-school. The preschool is operated by a Board of Management elected by the parents at the Annual General Meeting in March each year.

St Peter's is a forty-place pre-school licensed by New South Wales Department of Education and Training. The Department also provides funding to reduce fees and assist with operating costs. The Preschool exceeds licensing regulations requiring a 1:10 educator to child ratio; the pre-school regularly has a 1:8 and 1:6 ratio. At St Peter's Pre-school every child is assured expert individualised attention everyday.

St Peter's Pre-school opened in 1952 in the local church hall in Armidale and moved to the current premises in 1982 following the purchase of the property by the then Board of Management.

The pre-school has a wide range of play and educational resources and teaching aids designed to meet the needs of young children.

OUR PROGRAMS

At St Peter's Preschool, all children are supported to learn and one of the main aims of the preschool is to promote relationships that support children so that:

• Children have a strong sense of identity

• Children have a strong sense of wellbeing

• Children are confident and involved learners

• Children are effective communicators

(The Early Years Learning Framework)

These key aims are the corner stones of the educational philosophy at St Peter's Preschool:

"Encouraging children to take an active role in their learning using play based activities that stimulate a child's curiosity and creativity."
