It is wise to have your home or family member�s home assessed by an Occupational Therapist. Occupational Therapist's will enhance your own or your family member�s safety and independence within your/their daily living activities. Occupational therapists have wide knowledge in disability and illness, and are trained to:

� Identify hazard spots around the home;

� Give advice on specialised equipment, it�s safe use and purchase information in regard to suppliers of appropriate equipment;

� Give advice on home modifications (major and minor);

� Provide information on appropriate assistance programs/community resources.

This advice from an occupational therapist will improve your safety and help to maintain your independence and active lifestyle.

HOME OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SERVICES WILL:

* Advise on pressure care and cushions

* Discuss Back care management

* Develop home rehab. programs

* Advise specialist seating/wheelchair

* Discuss falls prevention

* Advise on home modifications

* Prescribe specialised equipment

* Assess for Personal Alarm Systems

* Occupational Therapy Driving Assessment

* Provide links to community resources, facilities and services

Home Occupational Therapy Services provide experienced & registered occupational therapists that will assess your home and needs as required. You may contact Home Occupational Therapy Services directly or get a referral from your doctor. You may also be entitled to subsidised fees under Veterans Affairs or Private health rebates.
