About
Osteopathy improves flexibility, balance and function of muscles and using using hands on techniques.
It is useful for treating whiplash, headaches, neck and back problems acute or chronic, scoliosus, nerve pain, e.g., sciatica, sporting injuries, childrens's joint pain and pre and post natal difficulties.
Colleen uses a wide range of techniques including joint manipulation and the more gentle techniques of functional, MET, cranial osteopathy, soft tissue manipulation and more.
Collen has during her more than 20 years as an Osteopath worked with the NAISDA indigenous dance school. She has proudly watched as dancers recover from thier acute injuries and return to full performance. Dancers need to be aware that if injuries are treated effectively in the early phases that full recovery can occur and thus prevent chronic problems setting in that might otherwise prevent a dancer from remaining in their expertise of dance. Colleen treats feet, knee, hip, pelvis, and lower back problems effectively that are commonly associated with onset of problems for dancers. An assessment at an early onset of a pain is the best advice.
She gives advise on stretching and strengthening exercises, posture and ergonomics to help maintain the problem and provide tools for the patient to help look after themselves. The choice of techniques used depends on patient presentation, history and their feedback.
Treatment during the 9 months of pregnancy is wise in anticipation of the birth. Colleen has two children of her own and is therefore acquainted with the discomforts that can arise during pregnancy. New born can be treated in their first week to assist with feeding, digestive sleep issues and difficulty to allow the head to relax easily to both sides.
No referral is needed from your GP but Collen does work with GP's with the Medicare EPC Scheme.
