About

Sports Podiatry @ Albury Sports Science Clinic (part of the Health & Fitness Plus group)

We would like to welcome Podiatrist Tim Madden to the clinic.
Tim is returning to Albury having spent the past 4 1/2 years in Melbourne working exclusively in the field of Sports Podiatry.
Sports podiatrists focus on acute and chronic injuries of the foot, ankle, knees and hips. While Sports podiatry involves the treatment of 'sports injuries', it also includes management of work related problems, general wear & tear, and aches & pains of the lower limb.
Our sports podiatry service may include accurate diagnosis of your problem, detailed bio-mechanical assessment, footwear assessment and advice, comfortable functional foot orthotics, regenerative injection techniques for tendon, ligament and arthritic problems, and detailed advice on injury rehabilitation and management.
Tim is bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience having worked with athletes including AFL players, Australian Junior basketballers, Victorian premier soccer players and various runners & triathletes.

Introducing you to Prolotherapy;

Prolotherapy involves an injection to injured ligaments, tendons or arthritic joints, of dextrose or platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which stimulates the bodyTMs natural healing response to regenerate injured tissue.

Due to the poor blood supply in areas of ligaments, tendons and joints, we commonly see incomplete healing, leading to chronic issues. With the overuse of anti-inflammatory medications and cortisone, this further compounds the issue.

If we allow the inflammation process to run its cycle without interference, we see that inflammation leads to granular tissue formation that results in new collagen tissue being created. The new collagen forms new threads, which attach themselves to the damaged tissue.

New collagen fibres are short, they lose water and shrink, and as they attach themselves to the old ligament, muscle, joint capsule, or tendon, these tissues become denser. Denser tissue is stronger tissue. With prolotherapy treatment, biopsies have shown brand new tissue without evidence of scarring. In essence, the tissue is healed, rejuvenated and made stronger than before.

When prolotherapy is used in conjunction with other treatment modalities, we are finding surgery can be avoided in a large percentage of our patients.

Specialties

Unlike most podiatrists, our podiatry service at Albury Sports Science Clinic focuses on lower limb musculoskeletal complaints and sports related injuries. This means we dedicate our time to become the best practitioners we can to ensure our patients get the outcomes they expect!
As sports injuries are our focus, we offer proven treatments like prolotherapy, which few clinics are offering. We have vast experience in foot orthotic therapy, providing patients with customised, comfortable and flexible foot orthotics that can fit in a range of footwear. We also pride ourselves on helping people who have seen other practitioners without the results they had hoped, or have been told surgery is their only option.
We have experience working with athletes including AFL players, Australian Junior basketballers, Victorian premier soccer players and various runners & triathletes, as well as a wide range of conditions affecting adults, families and children.
