Values, Beliefs, Ethics

The Principles of Hakomi Mindfulness-Centred Psychotherapy:

Mindfulness - greatly assists the expanding of awareness; and with increased awareness comes natural change and growth

Organicity - trusting the inner wisdom and process has the ability to know the best direction to take for healing

Unity - supporting the different parts within to communicate for deeper acceptance of self

Non-Violent - honouring and respecting the clients process

The above principles support my values and beliefs in treating all humans with dignity and respect. Within my practice I adhere to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics (2010) and Practice Standards (2013) - resources/code-of-ethics; alongside the Hakomi Institute Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics (1995).

Education & Experience

Throughout my sixteen years as a professional Social Worker in New Zealand and Australia I have continued to learn both through academia and employment.

Completing the Bachelor of Social Work through James Cook University, Townsville (2016); updated my New Zealand Social Work qualification making me eligible to be a member of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW), supporting my professional identity

Over the past 2 years I have been part of an inspirational group attending the Foundation of Hakomi training, through the Hakomi Institute - A Non-Profit Corporation of the State of Colorado; presented in Sydney, Australia. The Foundation of Hakomi Certificate provides me with the Principles, Theory and Technique of the Hakomi Method of Experiential Psychotherapy.

My qualifications and experience expand over many areas within the social services arena. Diploma in Social Work, Post Grad Cert in Health Science; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy in Clinical Practice (CBT), Cert IV Training & Assessing (TAE); training in Solution Focus - Strength Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Interactive Drawing Therapy. Employment incorporates: Mental Health, Grief/loss, Trauma, Domestic Violence and Women's Health, Delivering Diploma of Counselling training. This eclectic tool kit provides me with a wealth of experience to meet the clients need.

"Through learning we extend our capacity to create, to be part of the generative process of life. There is within each of us a deep hunger for this type of learning". - Peter Senge
