About

Anger Management Course- For individuals and couples.

New 4 week Anger Management Program using techniques not found in other programs.

When the client genuinely wants to reduce their anger, then the success rate using Cognitive Principle Therapy is very high because they are willing to increase their principles, namely, trust, respect, empathy, acceptance, etc., while reducing their false negative thinking and behaviour.

Once a client develops self-awareness and the tools to change their behaviour then change happens quickly.

One of the keys of CPT Anger Management is to understand that excessive anger is caused by a weakened principle, mainly respect.

In CPT the first session is about assessing of clients anger issues [there a 9 types of anger], plus psycho-education explaining how the habit of anger works, including the cycle of anger as shown below:

Activating event [the trigger]

Underlying lack of Control [lack of respect]

Lack of control [feels inadequate]

Tries to force control by arguing [to earn respect]

Feels frustrated [lack of respect received]

Feels angry [no respect felt]

Becomes abusive [tries to force respect]

Note: In explosive anger [one of the 9 types] then the client has learned the habit of bypassing all the steps and goes straight to abuse.

Session 2: Further assessment of the client, based on a completed Schema Questionnaire, plus psycho-education explaining the habit of anger using the latest findings in neuroscience which shows that it is easier to create a new habit than change an old habit. The technique used to create the new habit is called the Stop, Find, method [TM]

Session 3: In this session the client learns how to get greater self-control or influence in their life using specific techniques from the Cognitive Behaviour Matrix [TM]. For example, understanding how people go outside themselves to try to force or earn principles, rather than develop them within. [The angry person forces respect, the people pleaser, is trying to earn acceptance from others.]

Session 4: Review of clients success in reducing their anger, plus psycho-education on how negative principles such as fear, anger, anxiousness, sadness, boredom, guilt, etc are valuable once their purpose is understood and applied in a positive way.

This program is not based heavily around behaviours like other programs because behaviours are symptoms or reactions to weakened principles and or the misuse of negative principles.

Feedback and new tools to change behaviour are regularly given during the sessions.

Each client is given a full set of notes on Cognitive Principle Therapy and specific notes for each session.
