About

Little Parrots is a friendly, personal speech pathology service, providing assessment and therapy in the comfort and convenience of your own home.

We provide therapy services for children between the ages of 0-6 years old who are having difficulties with receptive or expressive language skills, pronunciation of speech sounds (articulation), social skills, stuttering & more.

Our areas of special interest and expertise include:

Little Parrots currently services the outer eastern and inner south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, however we are growing all the time. Please call us to see if we come to your area.

Little Parrots was created and is run by Speech Pathologist, Robyn Bishop (B.Sp.Path., MSPA). Robyn's passion and understanding of children, her own motherly instincts and her years of speech pathology experience make Little Parrots a great speech pathology service for your family.

We are passionate about what we do, and really enjoy working with families to help their children to communicate and enjoy communicating!

LITTLE PARROTS APPROACH:

Little Parrots acknowledges that children are most comfortable in their own environment, which is why we work with your child 'one-to-one' in the comfort and familiarity of your own home.

At Little Parrots we also believe that children progress more quickly and grow in confidence if the family get involved in the child's therapy. We encourage parents to sit in on their child's therapy session, where appropriate. This can provide parents (and other family members) with an opportunity to see how specific strategies work with their child, and allow parents to have the confidence to continue the same strategies at home in their everyday activities.

LITTLE PARROTS SERVICES:

*Individual speech pathology sessions:

Our one-hour, home-based speech pathology sessions for your child may include:

- Brief discussion regarding your child's goals and progress

- 'One-to-one' therapy session with your child in your home

- Feedback regarding your child's session, strategies to try at home & other practice tasks as required

- Formal assessments for diagnosis or funding applications can also be completed, however this may incur additional costs

*Home Programs

Little Parrots home programs have been developed for children that have had some individual sessions with us, and are confident to carry on practising at home. Home program fees include:

- Personalised 6-week home program

- Weekly email support

- A home-based review session after 6 weeks

*Kindergarten / Child Care visits

Kinder or child care visits can be an important part of your child's speech pathology intervention, and can provide valuable information. This will include:

- A one-hour observation of your child during their kindergarten or child care session

- Discussion with your child's teacher regarding concerns, goals and strategies

- A report of observations including strategies for the teacher to use to help your child achieve their goals in a group environment.
