Qponics

About

Qponics is an agricultural-biotechnology company operating in the food and beverage sector based in Brisbane, Australia. We are focused on the semi-rural and urban production of high-quality organic omega-3 oils from the cultivation of algae integrated into a sustainable combined aquaculture-horticulture process.

An aquaculture-horticulture system is the integration of growth of vegetable produce with aquaculture, the farming of fish in tanks, providing a natural balanced relationship between plants, fish, and bacteria that convert toxins such as ammonia into plant nutrients, in a closed recirculating system.

These systems, sometimes referred to as aquaponics, utilise the waste streams from aquaculture efficiently eliminating both environmental pollution and the use of inorganic fertilisers.
