Universal Design

Accessibility has long been a term that described adding a separate set of building elements to meet the needs of people with disabilities; creating an approach which segregates and discriminates by its very nature. Universal Design, as espoused by The Center for Universal Design, represents a paradigm shift in the design and usability of buildings and products alike. A shift focused on the needs of all users and the benefits of engaging user experiences and knowledge directly. Universal Design should be a dynamic process and not a standard set of antiquated codified requirements.

Existing Building Audits & Due Diligence Reports

Our extensive experience as Occupational Therapists and Access Consultants allows us to bring a highly functional response to formulating Alternative Solutions to the BCA. Ongoing direct involvement with people with disabilities as well as a strong focus in evidence based practice, allow us to apply our knowledge with the flexibility and validity necessary to meet the needs of both building owners and building users.
