Goulburn Family Support Service is funded by the NSW Department of Community Services under the Community Service Grants Program. We provide a range of services to disadvantated families in crisis. We do this by providing assistance to families in practical ways such as confidential advice and emotional support. This agency has developed an 'explicit model of practice' which is based on the psychology of affects, the human hardwiring that facilitates the expression of emotions. this knowledge is shared with client families to assist manage and understand their own and others' behaviours. Practice emphasis is on the harm that has resulted from inappropriate or harmful behaviours and to explore how this has impacted on those significant others, and what needs to happen to repair those relationships.
