Rachael Thoms

About

Rachael is a passionate and experienced voice teacher and is uniquely qualified in jazz and classical techniques, and an ardent believer in the Estill Method.

Rachael has coached students through HSC and AMEB preparation, auditions, eisteddfod, and competitions, and specialises in pre-tertiary and tertiary level voice training. Recording session vocal coaching and professional voice user remediation, style coaching, technical refinement, PA/microphone and production advice are some of the other services frequently called for.

Rachael is one of a rare bunch of singers that can genuinely claim to understand and teach multiple styles. Using her wealth of experience in music theatre, classical, jazz, pop, rock, and other contemporary idioms, combined with a solid foundation in classical/bel canto techniques and the Estill Method, Rachael has acquired a sound knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the voice and a thorough understanding of the stylistic elements of the various styles of music & singing.

Music theory, jazz harmony, aural/ear training, sight reading, song writing, and basic keyboard skills all form a part of Rachael's lesson structure. She believes firmly that singers should develop a similar depth of musical knowledge and understanding as the instrumentalists with whom we work.
