PMCC is Perth's Affordable and Accessible Mediation Service.

Based in the Perth CBD, PMCC offers a broad range of mediation and counselling services to individuals, parents & families, workplaces and community groups.

Our Vision - our motto is “Caring through Understanding and Cooperation” which means that we will always strive to understand your needs and work with you together with other relevant service providers and stakeholders to attain realistic and achievable goals.

Our Mission - our goal is to keep your matter out of Court and help you come to a resolution you can live with. We aim to provide an affordable and accessible dispute resolution service, comparable to government funded agencies but without the potentially expensive and protracted litigation process and without the waitlists.

Our People - Mary Choy is the Director of PMCC and it's Principal Mediator. Mary is an accredited and experienced Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner specialising in Family Law Mediation, assisting families affected by separation or divorce work out appropriate arrangements for their children and/or property settlement as an alternative to going to Court. Where children are involved, the Family Court's paramount consideration being "in the best interests of the child" is also carried through in Mary's mediations by providing a conducive forum and process for the parties to be able to communicate as parents. Mary also works with her clients to improve communication skills as co-parents and to build up parenting alliances, with mediation being seen as a first step towards a positive future for families in transition. Where mediation is not successful or appropriate in the given instance however, then as a registered FDR practitioner with the Attorney General's Department Mary is authorised to issue Section 60I FDR Exemption Certificates under the Family Law Act 1975 to enable parties to proceed with an application in the Family Court. Mary often collaborates with other accredited and experienced Mediators as required or requested by clients, especially for complex matters or where multiple parties are involved.

Our mediators also work closely alongside our in-house qualified and experienced Counsellors, who specialise in:

* Individual Counselling;

* Couples Counselling;

* Family Counselling;

* Parenting Counselling;

* Child Focus Practice (where parents are given the opportunity to meet individually or together with one of our Counsellor's, who specialise in families and children, to discuss the developmental and emotional needs of children, particularly following the separation of their parents, and the impact of on-going conflict on children's development); and

* Child Centred Practice (with the consent of both parents, our Counsellor's are also able to meet with older and/or mature children to listen to their needs and give them a voice in the arrangements that you as co-parents will be deciding for them in mediation. The Counsellor will prepare a report for the Mediator which can then be used for discussion with the parents in mediation).
