About
Bruce Lowenthal Auctions was established in 1994. After a lifelong interest (but we're not That old) in antiques & collectables we decided to branch out into the auctioneering business. Bruce & Vicki Lowenthal have been licensed secondhand dealers since 1983 and had been to literally thousands of auctions and thought - we could do that! So together with Bruce's sister Andrea we formed Bruce Lowenthal Auctions. We hold auctions at our regular auction rooms in Camperdown every 6 weeks or so. We have other auctions from time to time and these may include on site clearing sales, general house clearances or specialised auctions of collectables.
Highlights of our business over the years would include the sale of the contents of "The Union" Homestead. This well known western district property sale attracted around 1000 people and saw top prices achieved for a wide array of furniture & effects.
Another great sale in our very early days was Campbells Cash Store in Portland. This wonderful old shop was like a time capsule and selling the household effects and shop stock & fittings of this Portland institution was a great experience. Once again a huge crowd purchased everything from old straw boaters and ladies corsets to magnificent ironstone dinner settings and colonial era furniture.
We also sold the Currell Tractor Collection, the Trout Museum in Echuca, the Robert Russell collection in Horsham Victoria and of course there have been countless smaller collections pass through the auction room.
