Admitted to practice as a solicitor in Queensland over 30 years ago, and having hands-on experience in managing suburban and regional firms on my own, I realised recently that I have almost custom-made credentials for a locum lawyer at this point in my career.

The appetite for locum lawyers I suspect, is being driven by a strengthening economy, the retirement of many long-serving solicitors from the locum tenens directories, and a growing demand amongst rural and regional lawyers for a better work/life balance.

I am acutely aware of the responsibilities delegated to a locum lawyer in managing a law practice which represents the principal's major asset and which has been built up and nurtured for many years.
