About

Shiatsu is for everyone - you don't need an ailment to benefit.

A Shiatsu treatment can make you feel deeply relaxed and energised while relieving tension, pain, illness, fatigue or stress. Based on Oriental medicine, Shiatsu is a Japanese art form meaning finger (Shi) pressure (atsu). A Shiatsu treatment involves putting pressure on meridians (energy channels) to move energy (chi) using not only fingers but palms, elbows, knees and feet.

Shiatsu uses a 'whole body' approach that combines the philosophy of having a harmonious and healthy mind and body depends on the free flow of chi through these meridians. Shiatsu can help release what's known as stagnant energy that can build up in these meridians or conversely increase energy to areas of emptiness making chi flow more easily and your body more resilient to illness, pain or dis-ease.

By optimizing how your body works, this subtle and deep level of treatment promotes an energized and balanced sense of well- being and enables the body to promote self-healing.

There are no negative side effects to Shiatsu when conducted by a trained professional. Some people may experience an emotional release during or post treatment.

The following conditions respond well to Shiatsu treatments:

Allergies, arthritis, asthma, back, neck, shoulder pain, depression, digestive problems, constipation, fatigue, headaches and migraine, insomnia, bad posture, menstrual issues, RSI, sciatica, sports injuries, stress.

Shiatsu is suitable for everyone including pregnant women.

What to expect:

Treatments take place in my studio, on a futon mattress at floor level. Bolsters and cushions are often used to support the body for comfort as needed. Clients remain fully clothed. Bring, or wear loose, comfortable, cotton clothing.
