About

courrier was founded by me, Véronique…I am a Parisian Interior Designer who has lived in gorgeous Melbourne for 10 years and I have now settled in sunny SYDNEY. I have designed a collection of unique Stoneware… Handmade with style! It's offered to you through my humble little company, courrier…

My vision is to create STONEWARE in a palette that is fresh and versatile, with each colour showing unique depth and variation, And to offer it at fair prices, so that it's a collection perfect for everyday use and everyday bien-etre.

So I started doodling plates and bowls, choosing fresh colours, gathering textures and thinking through what the ideal little cup to drink my soy latte out of in in the morning would be (no I'm not vegan…).

Then…I contacted a few of my professional associates to help find artisan potters and eventually find a little factory to handcraft my products in. Working with craftsmen to bring my products to life, has been so rewarding! And I am so excited to share them to you!

Did I say handmade? Absolutely! Our stoneware is handcrafted…from the creation of the mold, to the shaping, buffing and glazing of each piece. Noticeably, our glazings are not made of solid colours. Actually they have been designed to the opposite…courrier encourages and embraces variations in the colour itself, giving it its unique character… and making each piece uniquely imperfect!

We have chosen stoneware for its many interesting characteristics …

•It's made of exceptional, super white and super fine clay,

•It's high-fired up to three times and to 1,330 degrees Celsius

•The final glazing is applied before the last firing, making it tough and durable

•The porosity is less than 1% versus the typical porosity which is 4.5%

What sets our stoneware apart is that our glazings are not made of solid colours. Our design is encouraging and embracing of variation in the colour itself, giving it its unique character and making each piece imperfect by design!

Our STONEWARE is hand made by our partners in a small factory in Jingdezhen, China. Jingdezhen has been the Porcelain capital of China for more than 1000 years, offering ancestral pottery techniques and exceptional quality of clay.

We've established a cherished relationship with our artisan potters, based on the combination of their incredible knowledge and skills and our individual design and concept. Allowing us to create high quality stoneware with a casual and happy feel to it. We adore the uniqueness of each piece!

Our stoneware is dishwasher friendly and yes it can be used in an oven and microwave, being mindful of course of sudden temperature changes…

You will also see that we are complimenting our stoneware collection by offering a few linen accessories sourced from Europe… they are also of wonderful quality and come in exquisite colours… a must in any good, self-respecting kitchen!
