Aura: Coffs Harbour

About

Atelier for Urban & Regional Architecture (AURA) is an emerging architectural design practice with a wealth of experience both locally and internationally. We specialise in residential, commercial and heritage restoration. We encourage sustainable, solar passive, environmentally friendly design principles and practices on all levels; in all fields of design, business and lifestyle. We believe that good design should not be exclusive and should be affordable and accessible to the wider community.

Buildings need now to give back to the environment: to accumulate water, solar energy and biodiversity and be carbon neutral. It's an unusual challenge because we are asking buildings, to perform a function that trees already fulfil. We encourage clients to re-evaluate their lifestyle and energy use in the context of site function and building use.

We encourage smart contemporary solutions fused with natural materials and artisanship to balance our sensitivities for modern amenity with the natural.

Recycling of existing building stock is encouraged where appropriate and effective renovation investment can give an existing building a new lease of life and conserve embedded energy and material. The state of the existing building and services and level of retro-fitting is determined through feasibility studies using Green Star ratings tools.
