Proteus Architects: Mark Gerstl

About

With our extensive background in architecture and project management, we are uniquely suited to solve complex problems in the built environment. Our director has been directly responsible for the design and delivery of extremely high profile built challenges, from Sydney Olympics building works to complex hospitals and large commercial buildings and bespoke residential dwellings.

We are flexible in our delivery method, which enables us to service all types of projects from small projects such as apartment alterations and renovations, to extremely large and complex projects requiring specialist delivery systems.

We understand that we work for you, so we listen carefully to your ideas, needs and wishes and then translate those into a coherent design for you. We live up to our protean name of flexibility, versatility and adaptability. We bind our project management skills into the project delivery system, and thereby build the project's delivery structure around your idea. Once that is achieved, we set out getting your idea built with integrity, passion and fun, so that there are no surprises along the way.

Our clients come from a range of backgrounds - professionals, corporations, home owners, developers - and from a mix of private and public sector. Our clients are sometimes first time users of architect's services, and sometimes have used ours or other architect's services previously. Most of of our work is repeat clients and based on word of mouth. On each and every project we produce eloquent, elegant and evocative solutions. So by entrusting us with your unique project, you too will come to realise we deliver on our promises.

We are based in Bowral in the Southern Highlands of NSW and work in any area nearby. We specialise in farmhouses, holiday houses and larger regional design projects. Our bush projects fit perfectly into their environmments and their unique climate.

Proteus Architects employs the latest in 3-D technology. We were one of the first practices in the world to utilise Revit 3d design software and are considered to be the leaders in this BIM package. All projects are completed with this software.

This 3-D design allows clients the advantage of being able to see the building before it is built, allowing clients to tweak any design features - and most importantly before it costs money to do when the builder is on site.

Our director and owner Mark Gerstl has over 25 years experience in the construction industry covering a wide range of architecture and project management roles. Having dual qualifications in Architecture and Project Management, he is able to provide clients many value-added benefits to their projects. This level of experience within the design and building professions enables Proteus Architects to provide quality services to every project.

Mark Gerstl has been on many boards and building committees. He is also the treasurer for the executive committee for the Sydney East Architects (SEA), part of the RAIA. He has worked throughout NSW as well as in Victoria and QLD.
