What is Access Control?
An access control system allows the movement of authorised persons into and out of a building or facility, while detecting and possibly delaying the movement of unauthorised people.
Access control devices are usually positioned around a building or facilities perimeter near vehicular gates, turnstiles, building entry points, doors into rooms and other special areas within a building. Access control allows easy entry to those who are authorised and deters the entry of potential threats.
What is an Alarm System?
Security alarms (also known as burglar or instrusion alarms) are systems designed to detect unauthorized entry into a building or area. They consist of an array of sensors, a control panel and alerting system, and interconnections. Sensors detect intruders by many methods such as monitoring door and window contacts, by passive infrared motion detectors, ultrasound, vibration, electric or magnetic fields, or microwaves. Sensors may be directly wired to a control panel that provides sensor power, or may communicate wirelessly.
What is CCTV?
CCTV means video surveillance. Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is the use of video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific place, on a limited set of monitors. It differs from broadcast television in that the signal is not openly transmitted, though it may employ point to point, point to multipoint, or mesh wireless links.
Video (CCTV) technology has been deployed purely as a surveillance tool in the past. Today video is an integral component in the design of cost effective security solutions, which deter, detect, help supervise and verify activity associated with security or safety risks.
What is the difference between a ?Standard Key? and a ?Security Restricted Key??
A standard keykey can copied by anyone who has a key machine and the appropriate keyblank e.g. key cutters, boot makers, key cutting kiosks etc.
A security restricted key can only be copied by the locksmith/company who installed the initial system. Upon a request for keys a letter must accompany the individual with a specimen signature, that being the authorized signature holder of that system. Records are kept of how many keys have been issued and what day they were issued on, which keeps the customer in total control of keys issued.
What is an Intercom?
An intercom (intercommunication device), or doorphone is a stand-alone voice communications system for use within a building or small collection of buildings, functioning independently of the public telephone network. Intercoms are generally mounted at the entrances of buildings. Some intercom systems incorporate control of devices such as signal lights, pin keypads, video, cameras and door latches.
