The Photo Shoot

The average shoot takes between 1 1\2-2 hours, depending on the number of people sitting. This is a long time to expect kids to sit and have photos taken. In order to make the shoot a more pleasurable experience, we like to break it up in sections. Initially we take shots as your child is wandering around Having fun & getting comfortable with his/her surroundings, as well as having a camera constantly zoomed in on them from a distance. Once they are comfortable with that & us, we take around 30-45 minutes of posed shots. Following that we have some games for the kids to play in an attempt to get some natural expressions, e.g., smile & laughter as your child becomes involved in the game. Due to the length of the shoot, it is only fair to give the kids a break at some stage. We suggest you bring a snack and something to drink.

Location

The choice of locations is endless. A few favourite spots of ours & our clients include Torquay for the wide open beaches, colourful cliffs and natural grasses. Queenscliffe for its historical pier, beach & grasses. Brighton Beach boxes for their color & rustic charm. Ricketts Point for the earthy colors of the rock pools & the sea grasses. Studio shots are available in your own home if suitable, or in Torquay at my residence.

What to Wear during Summer

A classic look that never seems to age is a white singlet/t shirt & blue jeans for people of all ages. A simple white dress as seen on our site is also a timeless favourite (dresses in most girls sizes can be supplied). In order to keep the focus on you & your child neutral colors are best. I will discuss potential clothing with you prior to the shoot.A variety of different outfits is recommended.

Colder Months

The colder months actually give you the opportunity to go wild & experiment with colors. Chunky jumpers, woolly hats & scarves look great against the threatening sky & rough sea.

Props

Props can enhance your photos greatly, such as your child�s favourite teddy or a musical instrument.

Weather Permitting

The fact that some shoots are outside, on occasions the weather is not always kind. We suggest you have a number of dates available just in case we need to reschedule.
