A fitness and health club, commonly known as a gym is an area which houses different equipments use in various forms of physical exercise. A fitness and health club is generally divided into different parts or amenities with different purposes. Here are some of the most common facilities:
- Workout Area - Free weights, including dumbbells, barbells and exercise machines are commonly placed here. The walls of these workout areas are generally covered with mirrors, enabling the exercisers to maintain a good posture while doing their individual routines.
- Cardio Area - All cardiovascular-related equipments are kept in this space. Some of these equipments are stationary exercise bikes, treadmills, elliptical trainers and rowing machines. Cardio theaters are sometimes embellished with TV monitors hung against the wall to keep the exercisers entertained while working out.
- Group Exercise Area - Today's health clubs are now offering different fitness courses taught by experienced fitness trainers. Examples of these fitness courses are aerobics, yoga, pilates and boxing. These exercises are conducted on the group exercise section of the gym. This part commonly has a large space to hold a number of people.
- Sports Facilities - A good one-stop gym also offer sports facilities like swimming pool, boxing, tennis and basketball courts.
- Shower Rooms - After long hours of workout, exercisers could treat themselves on steamed shower rooms. Some health clubs also have saunas and offer spa massages and treatments.

Going to gym to workout is far cheaper in the short term than buying your own equipments and exercise on your own. Of course over the long term, it is far more economical to purchase your own equipment. Here are the characteristics that you should look when choosing a good gym equipment store:
