Established in 1959, Dandenong Basketball has enjoyed consistent growth. In 2014, Dandenong Basketball has now positioned itself as a leader in the Australian Sporting landscape. Located in the state of the art Dandenong Stadium (270 Stud Road, Dandenong North), Dandenong Basketball manages the largest purpose built basketball facility in Australia and attracts 17,000 visitors to the venue each week. A recent $10million redevelopment has also allowed Dandenong Basketball to incorporate the State Volleyball Centre into the facility.

What a disappointing night, showing up to play my 7.20pm game, to have the referees arrive at the game at 7.20pm on the dot, log into the computers and inform us we need to enter all our team members' information (i.e., name, job, address, and number). The clock was started at 7.20pm when the referees arrived and we missed out 10 minutes of our game, whereas both teams entered all team information into the computer. The referees informed us that 'it was not their problem,' and we needed to speak to the supervisor. We had to pay our full match fees prior to arriving at the courts, and only received 30 minutes of game time (10 minutes in the 1st half). Once we had finally entered all team information into the computer, which we had already passed on to the stadium when we registered our team for the season, we were then informed that we had to provide our own basketball! I could not believe that the stadium, that claims to be one of the largest basketball associations in the southern hemisphere do not provide match basketballs. Who knows what our $2.50 per person door entry, team registration, and team sheet fees are being spent on, if Basketballs cannot be provided (and then monitored so they are not stolen) for each court. How can one of the largest and most well-known sporting organisations in Australia (as stated on the website) run like this? Shame on you for most definitely not 'providing our community with an enjoyable, rewarding and affordable experience. Tonight was a huge disappointment and a terrible way to start the season.
