- Holistic approach: The body as a whole is treated and not just particular symptoms. This means that the root cause of the illness is targeted. The benefit of this approach is that problems once treated seldom return.

Unlike conventional medicine that directly attacks infections or illnesses, most natural remedies work with the body's immune system to strengthen it and help it fight infections. Before any therapy or treatment can be started it is important to understand what the treatment entails.
Another good thing to consider is that, before 'buying into' a specific alternative treatment, do some research online and see what kind of clinical trials have been done and how reputable the sources for the alternative treatment are.
